Last time I did remote play on original PS4 Dec 16 - playable but occasionally choppy with artifacts. I tried remote play on the pro (mainly just to pair it up) there is a deffinate difference between the two. I havent played a game yet remotly on the Pro but the menus ran way smoother than the original PS4 ever did. (both set to connect via. I have the realme 7, and I did the last update (anyway the 'issue' always happened). I'm trying to use the ps4 remote play on it, but when i pair with the bluetooth the phone with the DualShock 4, before it takes all the commands in the home screen and all the apps, but when i open the PS Remote Play app it says 'this device is not supported' and i cannot play with it. Pro (& PS5) will automatically default to 1080p 'depending on your network connection quality' as it says in the RP settings. The res option is only applied to the regular PS4s now. So as long as you have a decent connection from the Pro to the network (wired is best!) then you should get 1080p.

When I am downstairs it’s faster to connect via the internet, when upstairs its faster to connect directly. It is annoying as hell if you move around the house, but it is the price to pay. You can set this setting in the remote play section of the settings.

This, of course, doesn’t apply to the vita, but if you are using a PC or the PS TV, you will likely have the ability to use a wired connection to connect directly to the network. A wired connection is always faster and more reliable than a WiFi connection. The same is the case for the PS4. If you have the option, connect the PS4 to the network using a wired connection to make there is one less signal to worry about.
Optimize the wireless connection
If you are unable to use a wired connection, there are some things you can do to boost the wireless connection. WiFi signals sort of work like sound waves, they bounce off walls easier than they travel through them.
- Open doors so as not to obstruct the signal.
- Put the WiFi router in an open location so the signal doesn’t get lost.
- Get a WiFi repeater to boost the signal around the house.
- Place the device in a location where it can get a good signal.
- Make sure the PS4 is in a location where it isn’t being blocked.
